Welcome to Life on the Ropes!

I'm so excited to finally be sharing with you all what I have been working on for the better part of the past six months! So, shortly after officially ending my previous blog The Newlywed Notebook last July, I found myself really missing being a part of the blogosphere, writing about and sharing my life, and all the blogging friendships I had made. At first I just chalked it up to blogging withdrawals (it's a real thing, look it up), but after a while I realized that it was probably more than that. I still loved blogging, but not all the stress that came with running and managing all the advertising, sponsorships, and rigid posting schedule.

So I knew that if/when I ever started blogging again I would want to make sure I protected that blog as a creative journal and an enjoyable space for me. I wanted something that felt like a hobby and not a job. Something that I was doing for me and something that was FUN. And that brings us to today, and the introduction of Life on the Ropes!

If you're a little slow on the draw and haven't figured out the blog name yet (and if you haven't I don't blame you), let me explain it a bit more.

So growing up with a last name like Ropella, the nickname "Rope" quickly evolved for my husband, Eric. Because we started dating when we were just 13, I had gotten the "Mrs. Rope" as well a time or two, and now that we are actually married old friends will still resurrect that old nickname from the grave a time or two. Because this new blog is going to be all about our family and our adventures (both exciting and mundane), we thought "Life on the Ropes" was an appropriate moniker for the new space.

I also really like the secondary meaning that has developed from this name. From health issues to family struggles, life hasn't always been easy for us, and I'm sure many of you can relate to that. But through it all we always try to remember that whether life currently has us swinging from the rooftops, or just barely hanging on, everything will turn out okay because God is in control. We hope that that is the underlying message you will take away from posts in this space.

And speaking of posts, this blog will be a place for Eric and I to share our real lives; no filters and no faking it, so get ready for that. There won't be a posting schedule and we will just write when we feel like we have something to say or something to share. We will write about everything from our massive home renovation to our difficult journey to starting a family. And if we are doing it right the main thing I hope we will be doing is connecting with YOU and other bloggers, blog readers, and supporters. To me the relationships is the best part about blogging, and I'm so looking forward to getting back to that.

If you'd like to learn more about me and my husband Eric, make sure to stop by my About Page and also check out some of my past posts on my previous blog like 8 Tips to Surviving The First Year of Marriage and how My Husband Is Not "The One" to really understand my heart.

I hope you are as excited for this as we are, and I hope that you will join us on this new journey! And if you aren't already doing so, I'd love for you to follow me on social media as well. I will be most active on Facebook and Instagram, but feel free to follow me through any of the platforms below...let's do this!
